Lindsay Adler: who she is
Lindsay Adler is an American portrait and fashion photographer, she is based in new York and many examples of her work have been seen in major American publication such as; Bullett Magazine, Zink Magazine and Fault. Lindsay Adler: why she is an inspiration Lindsay Adler inspires people looking to better their photography skills and also continually tries to better her work. Unlike most photographer Lindsay Adler creates video tutorials and teaches other the techniques she uses to create her outstanding images, which would otherwise be unknown to anyone trying to recreate similar photoshoots. This is inspiring to me because she is trying to share her passion for photography through teaching others to look for ways to better themselves as a photographer, she mentions in her video the thing she likes most about photography is she can connect with anybody wherever they are, whoever they are. I find Lindsey Adlers' work inspiring because of the stories she creates around her photos. I find the way she tries to express herself and her views on women work well and creates visually appealing images. |
For Lindsey Adler to achieve this shoot she needed to use a range of equipment to achieve her desired images. The focus of this shoot is a female model. Lindsay Adler carefully chooses the small details to create her final image, the elements she considered was makeup, hair, lighting and clothing. For this shoot she uses dark makeup, slicked back hair and dramatic lighting to reflect the mysterious atmosphere that she wanted to create. She also carefully chose the placement of the lighting on the model in some of the images the models face is half in the dark half in the light this creates the moody and mysterious atmosphere that Adler was trying to achieve. I find this shoot inspiring because of the outcome of the shoot, I love the placement of the lights on the models face that juxtapose her pale skin and i love how the light reflects of her carefully chosen makeup. this has provided inspiration for the makeup of my shoot and how i the light to bounce of the models natural facial features creating a high fashion glamorous looking image.

" When you fail you learn, and when you learn you grow, |
"When I begin the stitching something else happens, drawing will never do what thread will – the light changes" I think this quotes shows Maurizio Anzeri passion for his work I find his passion and his love for photography inspiring and I hope my final piece of work shows that love for photography.

Who is he?
Maurizio Anzeri is an Italian contemporary artist best known for his portraits, which he makes by sewing directly onto other peoples photographs. He was born in Italy in 1969, but now lives and work in London. His work is often based of vintage black and white images, which he then adds colorful embroidery and thread to, to create abstract shapes and patterns on the image. Why this artist? I have chosen this artist as his works of sewing and embroidery onto images are a good introduction into physical editing. He turns normal images into abstract works of art and draw the viewers attention to key part of the images and key feature's of the model. |
why have i chosen this artist?
I have chosen to study lisa kokins work because she is a mixed media artist who uses physical editing as a form of expressions for her pieces of artwork. she threads meaning through her artwork with hidden meanings and messages throughout her pieces of work. |
what is she known for?
Lisa Kokin is an artis,t an art instructor and an art coach Lisa Kokin lives and works in El Sobrante, California, outside of San Francisco. She received her qualifications from California College of the Arts in Oakland, for her work she uses recycled and reclaimed materials to create mixed media textile artwork. most of her designs make collages with recycled materials. why this video? I chose this video because it showcases Lisa Kokins work and her creativity. it shows her structural physical editing skills. i like this video because whilst it showcases some of her work we also see her completing her artwork, there is also a voice over of her explaining her work. I also like this video because it gives you a good overview of who she is, why she produces the artwork that she produces. i find her s inspiring because she uses recycled materials of which she describes "the materials having past experience adding a layer of richness to her work" i find this inspiring because her work can be perceived with different messages such as the large push for recycling but and reusing but also the second chance she gives theses materials. |

Lauri Laukkanen is an award-winning director & creator, he trained as an investment banker. At the age of 20 he left university and kick started his career as an advertising photographer. His work has allowed him travel worldwide, where he has taught workshops and created online tutorials, which has allowed him to inspire young photographers. In his work lighting is one of the key elements, he uses this to take his images to the next level, he says that in order to have a strong photograph you need strong lighting, which helps to convey mood and narrative. Most of his images are taken in a studio, which allows him to control variables such as; light, materials, texture and color palette. |
Why is he inspirational?
I find Lauri Laukkanen because he describes photography as way of expressing something deeper than just words. He says its about conveying emotions and narrative in a two dimensional format. |
